Columbia Teachers College, Gottesman Libraries, held a VIP reception to showcase the "Real Beauty" art exhibit of Claudia DeMonte. This is the second Kasser Family Exhibitions reception at Teachers College, which opened in February 2007, with the generous support of Beth and Michael Kasser. "Real Beauty" showcases the sculpture of handmade dolls from around the globe, the unique work of artist Claudia DeMonte.
DeMonte’s work, for 30 years, has dealt with the roles of women in contemporary society. "Cloak of Beauty" is created on a wooden ladder, with 140 handmade dolls from around the globe. Cultural diversity and the innate beauty of women is Ms. DeMonte's conception. A lovely reception was served to Teachers College guests and students. The organizers of this event were Karen Schnur, Director of Events Planning, Marlena Schroeder, Associate Director of Events Planning, Kawana S. Bullock, Special Events Coordinator, and Mary Amoon-Hickey, Assistant Director of Research (Development).
