Patelson Music House, founded by Joseph Patelson in 1947, tonight presented another live music event. Tonight’s jazz musicians, Project Taming Sari, included Michelle Marie on guitar, Fung Chern-Hwei on violin, and Brandon Silaco on drums and percussions. Plus, a guest in the Music House audience joined in on vocals. It was great to hear soothing ballads, and "Misty", "Autumn Leaves", and "Night and Day" were my favorites. This ensemble blends jazz violin, guitar, and percussion with unique ornamentations, and the combination of strings and drums was elegant.

Tonight the Patelson Jazz guests were treated to a special wine pouring, compliments of 67 Wine & Spirits, on Columbus Avenue, near Lincoln Center. The wines poured were Cinnamon Grove Chardonnay and Georges Duboeuf Côtes du Rhone. Paul Bressler, Manager at 67 Wine & Spirits, chatted with the guests as he poured, talking about wines and vineyards, and he also distributed gift cards for significant wine discounts. Patelson guests browsed sheet music collections of Broadway shows, classical trios, and jazz ballads. This was, as always, a complimentary Open House, hosted by Marsha Patelson, and staff was on hand to help serve cheese and hors d’oeuvres.

The next Patelson Jazz events, part of the Wine Wednesday series, will also be Co-Hosted by 67 Wine & Spirits, with choice red and white wines poured throughout the evening. They are November 14, 2007, with Yael Acher's junk “Kat” & Modiano, a funky, junk jazz, and December 14, 2007, with River Alexander and "The Mad Hatters". These complimentary evenings begin at 5:30 PM and last until 7:30 PM. Stop by Joseph Patelson Music House, 160 West 56th Street, across from the Carnegie Hall stage door, and tell them you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com.
