Patelson Music House, founded by Joseph Patelson in 1947, tonight presented another live music event. Tonight’s jazz musicians, Junk "KAT" & Modiano, included Yael Acher (Modiano) on flute & effects, Patrick Andriantsialonina on bass, and Ricky Gordon on drums, plus a guest in the Music House audience, who sang "Summertime". The music performed was mostly original compositions, and, being a warm night, the door was open, and guests streamed in. In fact, the Berlin Philharmonic was performing at Carnegie Hall across the street, and some of the musicians stopped by to hear this contemporary fusion of jazz, "funk", and classical. Yael Acher is quite talented as a flautist and composer, and she can be seen about town (check her website above).
Tonight the Patelson Jazz guests were treated to wines from 67 Wine & Spirits, plus something new. Bret Birnbaum, founder of Wine Cellar Sorbets, served delicious Reisling sorbet to the Patelson guests throughout the night. Patelson guests browsed sheet music collections and the new Patelson Gift Boutique, now stocked for easy Holiday shopping. This was, as always, a complimentary Open House, hosted by Marsha Patelson, and staff was on hand to help serve cheese and hors d’oeuvres.
The next Patelson Jazz event, part of the Wine Wednesday series, will also be Co-Hosted by 67 Wine & Spirits and Wine Cellar Sorbets, with choice red and white wines poured throughout the evening, plus a new wine sorbet. The date is December 19, 2007, with River Alexander and "The Mad Hatters". The complimentary evenings begin at 5:30 PM and last until 7:30 PM. Stop by Joseph Patelson Music House, 160 West 56th Street, across from the Carnegie Hall stage door, and tell them you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com.
