Patelson Music House, founded by Joseph Patelson in 1947, tonight presented its first-ever Book Signing event, accompanied by a live trio, playing, of course, Vivaldi. The trio included Yael Acher on flute, Fung Chern-Hwei on violin, and Nicholas Ong on piano. Between book readings, the trio entertained the packed Music House. Author, Barbara Quick, from California, was in town to sign copies of her new novel, and she read some very "saucy" excerpts about the young ladies that accompanied Vivaldi in his musical concerts and rehearsals. Ms. Quick writes with humor and authenticity. You can check your local bookstores and national book purchasing websites to order your own copy of Vivaldi's Virgins.

This was, as always, a complimentary Open House, hosted by Marsha Patelson, and staff was on hand to help serve wine, cheese, and hors d’oeuvres. The next Patelson Music event is December 19, 2007, with the return of River Alexander's "Mad Jazz Hatters". This complimentary evening begins at 5:30 PM and lasts until 7:30 PM. There will be a wine pouring by 67 Wine & Spirits, plus a sorbet tasting by Wine Cellar Sorbets. Stop by Joseph Patelson Music House, 160 West 56th Street, across from the Carnegie Hall stage door, and tell them you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com.
