Patelson Music House once again hosted a fine reception in the midst of its very busy West 56th Street shop, across from Carnegie Hall, and this time the reception was actually a preview of a concert to take place just two days later at Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall. The annual World Flute Fest is a benefit for In Defense of Animals, a very worthy cause, and the Carnegie Hall concert features music from around the globe, plus clay and old wooden flutes, Native American flute, Japanese flute, Irish flute, and Australian didgeridoo.
At the Patelson reception, we heard excerpts of flute music to be featured at the World Flute Fest concert (watch for the World Flute Fest review on this page), performed by Carol Alban, Ann Licater, John Sarantos, and Marco Granados. The presentations varied from echoing Native American style to original music to Marco's Venezuelan Meringues. The Patelson guests browsed the wide selection of sheet music and gifts, and they also enjoyed wine and hors d'oeuvres.
The next Patelson event will be Monday, October 13, 2008, Wright Music "Woodwinds Day", with professional level instruments and accessories available on the second floor, 9:00AM - 6:00 PM. Stop by Joseph Patelson Music House, 160 West 56th Street, across from the Carnegie Hall stage door, and tell them you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com.
