Stephen Brown uses color and light to help him express the beauty of everyday life, even in suffering and in simple objects. His small paintings are deliberately focused to reveal depth and inner emotions. He finds beauty in fruit, in the Colorado landscape, in illness of those close to him, in the darkness of nature, and the difficult transition from childhood to adulthood. Brown wants us to alter the way we see the reality of the world, as a result of experiencing his art. (Gallery Notes).
Diana Moore creates public sculptures intended as sentinels and timeless creatures, with implications of the human figure in vessels and pocketbooks, as well as in natural forms. Moore has invented the concept of bronze and steel works that burst to capacity and evoke images of Chinese or Assyrian figures in palaces or temples, as well as Egyptian canopic jars. The handles, clasps, and latches of the bags are quite realistic, and the bags are designed to open. Ideas of revealing and concealing bodies and private objects come to mind, as well as the shape of reproductive organs, breasts, and wombs. The spirit of human existence is captured in these objects.
