Bosendorfer New Loudspeakers: Evening of Truth
Dr. Roberta E. Zlokower March 18, 2005 On February 16, 2005 I was invited to a reception at Bösendorfer New York to observe the new loudspeaker system, developed and designed by Hans Deutsch von Stahlenberg (who is also a Duke in Salzburg, Austria). Various genres of music were presented by students of Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music, to the accompaniment of Bösendorfer pianos. Each song and/or piano work was re-played instantaneously through the new Bösendorfer loudspeaker system, and the sound was remarkable, bright, and very true to life.
A partnership was developed with Art Audio (home electronics) and Synergistic Research (audio and video cables) to create this amazing sound. Photos below show a large sound system display, with dramatic blue lighting and highly technical equipment, paired with Hans Deutsch’s loudspeakers, which served as the entertainment center of the “Week of Sound” at Bösendorfer New York, which is the first exclusive Bösendorfer piano showroom outside of Vienna, Austria, where the handcrafted piano was first manufactured over 175 years ago.
CD Review
Evening of Truth
February 16, 2005
www.bosendorfernewyork.com
This is a special CD, prepared to showcase the new Bösendorfer loudspeakers and sound system, as well as the vocal and instrumental students who performed in February at the sound system debut. It is obvious on listening that the incredibly clear and sophisticated instrumental and vocal qualities, which lead one to forget that this is a CD, not a live event, is due to a very unique and cutting edge technology. Music tracks and performers are below, in the same order of performance as in the Bösendorfer sound system event.
:
#1 – G. Bellini: Il Servido des Iderio, A Capella, Jennifer Beattie (Soprano). The A Capella voice was flawless and vibrant.
#2 – J.S. Bach: Preludio from Suite No. 1 in C-Major for Cello, Adiel Shmit. The solo cello resonates with warmth.
#3 – N. Paganini: Caprice No. 24 for Violin, Yulia Sakharova. The solo violin has amazing clarity.
#4 – F. Chopin: Ballade No. 3 in a Major for Piano, Taisiya Pushkar. The Bosendorfer piano, along with the sound system, evoke regal majesty.
#5 – C. Saint-Saens: The Swan, for Piano and Cello, Adiel Shmit and Taisiya Pushkar. This mournful ballet score is rich and allows each instrument to be heard in depth and drama.
#6 – G. Gershwin: Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me for Piano and Soprano, Taisiya Pushkar and Jennifer Beattie. The vocal and piano duet are sparkling with sharpness.
#7 – P. Sarasate: Zigeunerweisen for Piano and Violin, Taisiya Pushkar and Yulia Sakharova. This duet is a mesmerizing track.
#8 – J. Kander: New York-New York for Piano and Soprano, Taisiya Pushkar and Jennifer Beattie. A wonderful tune to end a very classy concert.
