This is not a detailed and technically researched, travel documentary, but, rather, a mental and visual reflection of a wonderful trip.

First Sailing and Warm Weather
Schooner Gam

Today was extremely hot weather, no clouds at first, and the first day of sailing would include a docking near the other schooners in the fleet for a rare Schooner Gam. In fact, we would be able to hop from boat to boat to see the rest of the fleet. Today was also the day when I gathered tremendous respect for Pam and the galley crew, as they effortlessly cook with the boat rocking and sailing, and cook “ from scratch”, and, in fact, made me special “no meat” dishes, every meal. Breakfast was French Toast, bacon (for the others), and fruit salad, and lunch was couscous and vegetables. I learned about hoisting and lowering the sails as a team, although the same people seemed to assist each time, and I took photos. Yes, I had had a manicure. I also learned about a motorboat/tugboat and “donkey” engine to assist with the schooner and sails, just in case.

It was quite hot, people took naps, and the Schooner Gam was delightful, with a sunset tour, hopping over rails and stairways. I was surprised to see children and seniors on some of the boats, a sure sign of safety and security reputation.
