This CD is an upbeat, rhythmic, and sexy collection of renowned ballads, with swing, bossa nova, and foxtrot motifs. Nancy Kelly features her band in uninhibited and energized fashion, and the result is a sensational mix of vocals and jazz ensemble extraordinaire.

#2–Like Someone in Love – Composed by Burke/Van Heusen. In a bossa nova beat, Kelly sings with elegant earthiness and stylish individuality. She features Dino Losito on fender rhodes and Mark Taylor on exotic percussion. Kelly holds one note that extra beat for sexy sensuality.

#4 –More than You Know – Composed by Eliscu/Rose/Youmans. Kelly slows this ballad with emphasis on each extended syllable, enhancing the mood and meaning with rich rapture. Neil Miner on bass, Dino Losito on piano, and Mark Taylor on brushes infuse an uncluttered and melodic accompaniment.

#6 –Let Me Off Uptown – Composed by Bostic/Evans. With Houston person in full flourish, this rousing Savoy Swing has an infectious rhythm. Dino Losito is featured on racing piano, and Kelly’s vocals are evocative of 30’s uptown vocalists, including syncopated scat.

#8 –Come Rain or Come Shine – Composed by Mercer/Arlen. Kelly uses her full band in straight jazz swing, with drums, piano, sax, and bass, and her vocals are strong and punctuated. The band, on its own, has a well-seasoned sound, and each musician is highlighted in this buoyant ballad.
