(See a Review of the May 16, 2007 Wine Wednesday).

Patelson Music House, founded by Joseph Patelson in 1947, tonight presented another live music event. Tonight’s jazz musicians, River Alexander’s Mad Jazz Hatters, included River Alexander on vocals, guitar, chromatic harmonica, and jaw harp, Jeff Hudgins on saxophone and clarinet, and Debbie Kennedy on bass. They played Roaring 20's standards and songs that made you want to dance. In fact, two people did just that. This was an upbeat, dynamic, and very engaging band. The Patelson guests also browsed the eclectic sheet music collection of Broadway melodies, classical sonatas, and jazz standards. This was, as always, a complimentary Open House, hosted by Marsha Patelson, and staff was on hand to help serve wine, cheese, turkey wraps, and desserts.

The next Patelson Jazz event, part of the Wine Wednesday series, is July 18, 2007, with a Brass Quintet. This complimentary evening begins at 5:30 PM and lasts until 7:30 PM. On August 15, 2007, Kerry Linder will return on vocals and percussion with special guests. Stop by Joseph Patelson Music House, 160 West 56th Street, across from the Carnegie Hall stage door, and tell them you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com.
