It was the first clear, non-humid day in weeks, and tonight's impending sunset was perfectly timed for a miraculous sail onboard the Shearwater, an 82' sailing yacht built in 1929. I enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine and aimed my new Fuji S6000 toward the bright, lower Manhattan skyline. Once the sails were hoisted, we glided quietly by Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, larger cruise boats, ferries, tiny sailboats, and soaring seagulls.
The Sunset Cruise allows the passenger to experience the impressionism of the silver-blue waters, as they sparkle in the setting sun and glisten in the approaching moonlight. The painted patterns of reds and oranges against the sky enhanced each moment and engaged the eye. The Shearwater guests visibly unwound throughout the evening.
