Women's Project & Productions (WPP) was founded in 1978 by Julia Miles, and it has produced over 100 workshops and plays by women playwrights. WPP Developmental Programs include the Playwrights Lab, Directors' Forum, Tandem Acts Festival, and Ten Centuries of Women Playwrights. The Women's Project Theatre, on West 55th Street, is the new permanent home for these programs.

The Exceptional Achievement Honorees for this 25th Anniversary Season are: Bobbi Brown, of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Tina Chen, Director, Producer, and Actor, Chita Rivera, nominated for this year's Tony for Nine, and Isabelle Stevenson, President and Chairman of the Board, American Theatre Wing. The Award Presenters were: Michael Strahan, NY Giants', David Henry Hwang, Playwright, Marty Richards, Producer and Oscar Winner for Chicago, and Hal Luftig, Producer of Movin' Out, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Annie Get Your Gun. Emcees were Pat and Gerald Schoenfeld, and the Honorary Chair is Nancy Pelosi. (Press Notes).

This cocktail reception was held in the exquisite patio of Tavern On the Green, with sparkling lanterns, luscious flowers, the finest wines and mixed drinks, gracious bartenders, most unusual hors d'oeuvres, lovely spring weather, and a bevy of well-known figures in the New York theatre scene. As you can see from these candid photos, the guests were well cared for and well hosted by the Tavern On the Green Staff, as well as by Springer/Chicoine Public Relations. Playwrights, Actors, Producers, Cosmetics Entrepreneurs, Athletes, Business Executives, and Patrons of the Arts all mingled in this fantasy setting, like an elegant stage set, as only Tavern On the Green can create, in its enviable position at the edge of New York's best section of Central Park, and only a few blocks from Lincoln Center.

I enjoyed this Reception tremendously. The Awards were presented at the Gala Dinner inside Tavern On the Green's equally elegant dining room, later on in the evening. Congratulations to Bobbi Brown, Tina Chen, Chita Rivera, and Isabelle Stevenson, on their well-deserved Exceptional Achievement Awards, presented by Women's Project & Productions. And, Congratulations to Springer/Chicoine PR and Tavern On the Green for creating such a lovely event. (See Tavern On the Green's Website to plan your own lovely event.)
