Once again, Gray Line New York Sightseeing buses transported Drama Desk members and guests to and from this Reception, which was a busy, energized event. The Drama Desk Awards for 2009 had already been announced on April 27 at The Friar's Club, so there was no suspense here, just an opportunity for the Nominees to: say hello and meet the theatre press, receive their Nomination Certificates, draw their "sketch contribution" to the Drama Desk Art*Kives, sample Il Bastardo's hors d'oeuvres, have a glass of vodka or wine from Sponsors, Legend of Kremlin Vodka and Beaulieu Vineyard, receive an engraved gift, courtesy of Joseph Callari (Callari Engravers), an Assoc. Producer of the Drama Desk Awards, and confirm attendance and tickets for the May 17 Drama Desk Awards Ceremony.

I enjoyed chatting with the TheaterMania staff, with Gregory Jbara, Nominee for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical (Billy Elliot The Musical), Bill Irwin, Nominee for Outstanding Actor in a Play (Waiting for Godot), as well as Drama Desk members and guests. I'm looking forward to the May 17th 54th Drama Desk Awards ceremony.
