Dr. Salvatore Moltisanti, of the IBLA Foundation, invited me to a lovely book signing event, in honor of Joanna Crispi's new book, Soldier in the Grass, which can be purchased through Barnes & Noble. The reception was held in a Greenwich Village town house that serves as the Creative Writers House, and is named for Lillian Vernon, a generous philanthropist, who is a renowned entrepreneur and catalog merchant. Lillian Vernon gave New York University a Creative Writing Program, the Lillian Vernon Creative Writers House, the Lillian Vernon Graduate Fellowship, and the Lillian Vernon Writer-in-Residence professorship. The historic 1836 townhouse was remodeled by the architect Stanford White. The setting was warm and inviting for tonight's book-signing and conversation. Wine and cheese were served.
