I was joined for an authentic Italian lunch at Il Punto Ristorante today by Roberto Scarcella Perino, an Italian professor at New York University (NYU) and Baruch College. Roberto is also an opera composer and will preview his new opera at NYU's Casa Italiana on November 19, 2009. We were greeted by Il Punto's warm staff, and Roberto dined on Battuta di Pollo Arrostita, a grilled pounded chicken breast, with mesculin and fried potatoes. I chose my favorite Il Punto pasta, Orecchiette e Rapette, an earlobe shaped pasta, with broccoli rapa, garlic and olive oil. We drank Chianti by the glass, and the espressos were perfectly strong and steamed.
Il Punto Ristorante is located in the heart of the fashion district, near Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, and very convenient to Port Authority, Penn. Station, and Madison Square Garden sports and events. The ambiance is leisurely and inviting. This is a slow-cooking experience, where the Chef takes his time, and the dining is relaxed and refined. Il Punto has a private room, to book for your special occasions or corporate meetings. There is a flat-screen television and media center in this intimate space, large enough for about 40 guests. Call Il Punto Ristorante at 212.244.0088, and tell them you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com.
