Carlos Salvador, a Business Officer at TD Bank, joined me to celebrate The Holidays tonight. Our first stop was Casellula Cheese & Wine Café on West 52nd Street near Ninth Avenue, near the Walter Kerr Theatre, where we would see "A Little Night Music". Perri Cohen, Assistant Sommelier, guided us through their expansive wine menu, and Carlos chose a glass of Pinot Noir, while I chose a sparkling Blanc de Noir. We had a platter of three cheeses and fresh breads (True Blue, Gorgonzola Piccante, Dunbarton Blue), called "Lady Sings the Blues", and a platter of three cold meats (Chorizo Traditionale, Mortadella, Bresaola) with pickles and mustard. Liv Ruth, Assistant Fromagiere, stopped by to check our choices and say hello.
Casellula is an intimate, dim, relaxing venue, designed for conversation, warm welcomes, and eclectic light suppers, home-baked desserts, and tastings. In fact, wine and cheese flights are available, due to the dozens of choices in this extremely well-stocked bistro. Brian Keyser, Casellula's genial Proprietor, is almost always on hand for suggestions and assistance. His staff is knowledgeable, enthused, and eager to please. Stop by Casellula Cheese & Wine Café, before or after a Broadway or Off-Broadway show, and ask for Brian, Perri, or Liv. Tell them you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com!
