Tonight, on a warm June Saturday, Terrace in the Sky was delightful, with several birthday parties and gorgeous summer views. One of the Terrace in the Sky harpists was serenading the dinner crowd, and I and my two guests had a lovely evening. It was Madeline's birthday, and she and my niece, Camille, had joined me for American Ballet Theatre's matinee of Swan Lake at The Met. Camille enjoyed her "Shirley Temple" drink, while Madeline and I sipped sparkling water and Chardonnay. For appetizers, Madeline and I both ordered platters of Heirloom Tomatoes with Watercress and Sliced Mozzarella, and Camille began with a bowl of Fresh Seasonal Berries. Camille then dined on Baked Ziti with Fresh Tomato Sauce, made to order. For our additional entrées, Madeline chose Fresh Grilled Scallops on Roasted Corn and Chicory, and I chose Sautéed Soft Shell Crabs, cooked to crispy perfection. Our desserts ranged from my Trio of Homemade Sorbets to Madeline's Birthday Platter of Chocolate Delights. Camille shared my sorbets and her mother's chocolate surprises.
