I was joined by Sylvia Lima, General Manager, New Yorker Hotel, for an elegant three-course lunch at Il Punto Ristorante on Ninth Avenue at 38th Street, right near the historical and newly restored New Yorker Hotel. Il Punto is also near all the Broadway shows and the Fashion District. Sylvia was delighted to experience the slow-cooked style and authentic preparation of Il Punto's multi-regional Italian cuisine. Stefano, Day Manager of Il Punto, as well as Maria, wait staff, and Michele Orsino, Il Punto's Executive Chef, personally attended to the selections and timing of each course.

For the Pasta Course, we shared ORECCHIETTE E REPETTE, with earlobe shaped pasta and broccoli rapa, garlic, and olive oil. Then, for the Entrées, Sylvia decided on the BATTUTA DI POLLO ARROSTITA, with grilled pounded chicken breast, mesclun salad, and fried potatoes. I decided on a similar dish, SALMONE ARROSTITO, with grilled Atlantic salmon and vegetable juliennes. We chose two gorgeous desserts, each with delicious presentations, POACHED PEAR IN BAROLO RED WINE, with cinnamon, panacotta, and seasonal fruit, and VANILLA ICE CREAM WITH FLAVOR, that's served with warm espresso in a wine glass. Our CAPPUCCINOS were accompanied by a plate of homemade BISCOTTI.

We dined in Il Punto's smaller Side Room, and there's also a Private Party or Conference Room. Il Punto's decor includes dark wood floors and wooden arch beams and trim. You can reserve Il Punto Ristorante's private room for any day or evening of the week, for up to 38 people, plus room for a small band or business display table. There's a flat screen television for conference presentations, party music videos, or birthday-wedding-anniversary remembrance movies. Fixed price menus are available for buffets, seated events, or passed hors d'oeuvres. Marino, Night Manager, will cater your events with detailed perfection, and staff can assist with decorations, as well. Il Punto's bar is crafted of elegant wood, a perfect after-theatre destination. Call Marino at Il Punto Ristorante at 212.244.0088, and reserve a table for lunch or dinner. He'll be happy to also show you their Private Room, perfect for your upcoming events. Tell him you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com!
