After catching an Off-Broadway show, Side Effects, in the Village, I hurried back to Hell's Kitchen, to the recently debuted Pier 9, a great seafood restaurant on Ninth Avenue between 53rd and 54th Streets. Hot corn bread comes with the dinner, and Chardonnay is always ordered with mine. Moon, the Pier 9 Manager, is swift, attentive, and charming. My Day Boat Scallop Kabobs were piping hot, and they arrived with spicy sauces for dipping. Although steamed mussels weren't on the menu, Moon ordered Steamed Mussels in White Wine, and I was in steamed mussel heaven. The Chef de Cuisine, David Valencia, even stopped by to see how I liked them. Pier 9 has a dynamic, vibrant ambiance, and their menu is vast. Stop by and ask for Moon. Tell him you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com.
