I was joined for a warm business lunch on a crisp, windy day by Carlos Salvador of Commerce Bank. We both chose from the reasonable and generous Prix-Fixe Menu. Carlos ordered the soup del giorno, filled with fresh vegetables and beans, and I ordered the radicchio salad with pears and gorgonzola. For entrées, Carlos enjoyed Chef Odette Fada's braised beef in red wine with soft polenta. It was served piping hot with aromatic spices. I enjoyed the pan-seared orata fillet, an Italian fish flown in from the Bari-Sicily region, with julienned vegetables. We both ordered homemade sorbets for dessert and cappuccinos. In fact, at San Domenico NY, the cappuccino comes with the Prix-Fixe Menu, a rarity in New York.
Tony May's San Domenico NY is conveniently located across from the Time Warner Center and Shops at Columbus Circle, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Central Park. The Broadway shows, City Center, and Lincoln Center are also in the immediate vicinity. Ask for Marisa May or Stefano, and tell them you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com.
