Lime Leaf Thai and Continental Restaurant, on West 72nd Street, between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues, now presents live jazz every weekend, and tonight's two sets brought back the very talented Robert Conton on guitar and Leviticus Gory on sax. They played favorite ballads, such as "Someday My Prince Will Come", "Blue and Green", "Yesterdays", "Autumn Leaves", "September in the Rain", and "What's New". Their style is casual and melancholy, bluesy and romantic, just perfect for the Lime Leaf Jazz guests. I enjoyed Coconut Soup with Lemongrass and Chicken and Pan Seared Tofu and Vegetable Dumplings. Marcos, the Bartender, served a delicious Pavillion Chardonnay, and the evening was lovely.
Call 212.501.7800 for Lime Leaf Jazz details, and reserve a table or a seat at the bar. There's no cover, no minimum, but the cuisine is prepared by a chef from Thailand, so you should reserve a table for a leisurely dinner, during the weekend jazz. Tell them you saw them on RobertaOnTheArts.com.
