SOUNDS OF JAZZ COME TO EMPIRE STATE BUILDING OBSERVATORY
(www.esbnyc.com)
Night Owls Will Savor Romantic Tunes as They Catch Breath-taking City Views
This summer late night trips to the Empire State Building's world-famous Observatory will be even more romantic now that the Observatory is offering the soothing sounds of jazz through its new "Round Midnight" music program. For the first time, acclaimed saxophonist Wil Greenstreet will play every Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. to celebrate the cool summer nights and the Observatory's new extended hours.
Wil Greenstreet has been playing music for over 40 years, first as a rhythm and blues guitar player in Australia and since 1975 transforming himself into a world-class jazz saxophone player. He was born in the Netherlands, raised in Australia, and migrated to the United States in 1975. Over the years he's played in countless blues, rhythm and blues, and jazz bands. As for jamming on top of the city's tallest building -- "Playing on the 86th floor is a heavenly experience," said Greenstreet. "I really feel on top of the world!"
In March, the Empire State Building extended the hours of its Observatory to 2:00 a.m. every day so that night owls from New York City and around the globe would be able to enjoy the wonder of the city's twinkling night skyline. The last ticket sold is at 1:15 a.m. and the last elevator up is at 1:35 a.m.
The Observatory is open from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m., 7 days a week. Visitors can choose to check out the magnificent city views from the Observatory on the 86th floor or climb even higher to the Observatory on the 102nd floor. Audio tours detailing the City's unique skyline are also offered in eight different languages. Visit www.esbnyc.com for ticket information for the Observatory.
Soaring 1,454 feet above Midtown Manhattan, the Empire State Building is the "World's Most Famous Office Building." With new investments in infrastructure, public areas and amenities, the Empire State Building has attracted first-rate tenants in a diverse array of industries from around the world. The skyscraper's robust broadcasting technology supports all major television and FM radio stations in the New York metropolitan market. The Empire State Building was recently named America's favorite building in a poll conducted by the American Institute of Architects.
