Dr. Roberta E. Zlokower
November 20, 2005

A great event, for young kids and parents with rhythm, happened today at NY Society for Ethical Culture. Roger Davidson and his band released their terrific new CD, BINGO, and moved swiftly from song to song, while kids danced, jumped, sang, clapped, and even took a hand at a free bongo or drum, when they could wiggle through. My guests, Cecilia Saia (Argentine Tango teacher and performer), husband, Bob, and children Isaac and Malena, joined in the rhythmic fun. Christy Baron has the perfect voice, with clear lyrics for sing-along, and the band mixed the beat from lullabies to sambas, reggae to folk. Saxophonist, Oscar Feldman, already reviewed in this magazine, added pizzazz and depth to the music. Marivaldo dos Santos, on Brazilian percussion, enhanced the music with exotic, child-friendly instruments, and Portinho, on drums, had quite a solo riff. Ed Howard added rhythmic resonance with the bass.

Program:
B-I-N-G-O; Froggy Went a Courtin'; This Old Man; Home on the Range; He's Got the Whole World in His Hands; Baby Beluga; All the Pretty Horses; Scarborough Fair; Kumbaya; Sleep, My Child; Who's That Tapping at the Window?; The Fox; Baa, Baa, Black Sheep; The Riddle Song; Lullaby Waltz; Three Blind Mice; and Happy Birthday.

Soundbrush Records also records classical, tango, and more. If you know a young child, BINGO is the perfect gift.
