Luciano Troja, pianist, and Giancarlo Mazzù, guitarist, from Sicily, very dear friends, met me at Bazár, on West 26th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, for tapas and wine, the day after I caught their new show, “Da Qui a Palermo”, at Casa Italiana, New York University. They would return home the very next day, and we wanted to spend some leisure time discussing the Italian jazz scene. Ladislav Kulisek, Proprietor of Bazár, joined us in our bar table seating. We chose European wines, Buratta e Pomodori, with Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes Confit and Pane Tostato, as well as Charcuterie & Cheese Platter, with Mitibleu Roquefort from Spain and Jamon Serrano Ham.
